Registration and fees
How do I book a UCAT test?
Bookings are open from mid-May to the third week in September. Candidates pay for the test at the time of booking by debit or credit card. It is a two-step process:
Step 1: Online Account Registration
Candidates must create an online account with Pearson VUE before they can book their UCAT test. They need to register for UCAT personally – this cannot be done by their school. Candidates should only create one account as multiple accounts are not permitted.
Each candidate must register with their legal name exactly as it appears on the photo identification they present at the UCAT testing centre. If there is not an exact match, they will not be able to take their UCAT test.
Candidates can register for UCAT at: https://www.ucat.ac.uk/register/booking-your-test
Step 2: Booking a UCAT Test
After registering a UCAT account, candidates receive an email confirming their account has been created. The email will also contain the username they created. Candidates can then log-in to their Pearson VUE account to book their UCAT test, when bookings open (on June 20).
UCAT UK is delivered in Pearson VUE test centres across the United Kingdom, and candidates can choose their UCAT testing centre. Some overseas test centres are also available.
Further details regarding UCAT registration can be found at: https://www.ucat.ac.uk/register/booking-your-test
Where can I sit UCAT?
On the day of the UCAT, candidates go to their selected test location. The UCAT is delivered in Pearson VUE test centres throughout the UK and 130+ countries worldwide.
To find the nearest location go to: https://www.ucat.ac.uk/register/booking-your-test/ and under the section ‘Test Locations’ click on the link ‘Pearson VUE Test Centre Locator’.
What is the fee to sit UCAT?
Students must pay the test fee at the time of booking by major debit/credit card. Pricing is as follows:
- Tests taken in the UK: £70
- Tests taken outside the UK: £115
How can I access financial help towards the cost of sitting the UCAT?
After creating a UCAT account, a student needs to apply for a bursary with the correct supporting documents. If the student meets the eligibility criteria, they will receive a bursary voucher code by email. The student can then use the code to book the test. For information on eligibility criteria and evidence required, see: https://www.ucat.ac.uk/register/bursary-scheme/
How can I apply for access arrangements?
Access arrangements can be made for students with disabilities and/or experiencing major illness or injury. This can include additional time, rest breaks or other accommodations while sitting their test. Some access arrangements require prior approval. For a detailed list of what arrangements are available and what approval is required, see: https://www.ucat.ac.uk/register/access-arrangements/
Can I cancel or reschedule my UCAT test?
Candidates must give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel and/or reschedule or they may lose their fee / have to pay again. Candidates can only cancel / reschedule through their UCAT account – this cannot be done through email. If a candidate wishes to cancel or reschedule after bookings close on the 21st September they need to phone Pearson VUE Customer Services on +44 (0) 208 616 5106.
If a candidate misses a test they will not be eligible for a refund.
What do I need to bring on UCAT test day?
Candidates must bring photo identification to the test centre on the day of their test. The acceptable forms of identification are a passport, a driver’s licence with photo, EU identity / Irish passport card, or government issued identity card. Candidates photo identification must have their name (which must match the name registered in their UCAT account) and their photo, be government-issued, original (i.e. a photocopy is not acceptable) and within its expiry date. Failure to bring ID could mean that the candidate will not be allowed to take the test and will lose their test fee.
